STAY CURIOUS

L’onomatopée du bonheur.

Make yourself comfortable
Take a moment to settle in
Look at the colors and let your eyes wander
Choose one colour that attracts you
Keep looking at it for a few seconds
Take a slow, deep breath in..
and gently breathe out
Now, let this colour bring you to a sound
Think of a sound that makes you happy
It could be a voice,
a laugh,
the sound of the sea,
birds singing,
a song you love,
the sounds of a busy street,
a kitchen,
or even a comforting silence.
Let the sound come to you
Listen to it in your imagination
Notice what happens in your body
Does your heart feel lighter?
Do you feel warmth on your skin?
A tingling sensation?
A smile coming to your face?
A sense of calm, energy, or joy?
Stay with this sensation for a few moments.
Now, listen more closely to your sound.
Is it soft or intense?
Short or continuous?
High or low?
Does it have a rhythm or a texture?
Let this sound become a simple,
instinctive expression:
a word,
an onomatopoeia,
a few letters,
or even a drawing.
Take a piece of paper
and write or draw your sound.
There is no right or wrong way to capture it.
Take this little sound of happiness with you.
Keep it on your desk,
and whenever you need it,
look at it and remember this feeling.

Can a sound be represented in such a way that we can almost hear it with our eyes? In Tunisia, wererey is a ululation associated with moments of joy, celebration, and gathering. It is a vibration of the voice, immediately recognizable yet impossible to hold: it appears, travels through space, and then disappears. The Onomatopoeia of Happiness was born from the desire to give this vibration a form. By definition, an onomatopoeia is a graphic representation of a sound. It is silent, yet it allows us to mentally recreate what cannot be heard. It exists in a strange space between sound and its absence.

Leave your happiness in a note, a voice message, or anything that captures this state of mind for you.
What does happiness sound, feel, or look like to you?

This project created by
Zeineb Ben Haouala

Zeineb Ben Haouala, a prize-winning Tunisian-Swiss illustrator born in Lausanne in 1982, obtained her master's degree in design research at the Higher School of Design in Tunis in 2009. After several years in the dynamic world of communication as an art director, she decided to reconnect with her true passion, illustration. In 2017, she founded Glibett, an engaged illustration studio that serves as a creative space for artistic exploration and innovation. Through this initiative, she strives to develop the field of illustration in Tunisia by building bridges with the rest of the world. Zeineb develops an artistic approach rooted in visual storytelling. Discovered by the publishing house Kalimat Group in 2019 at the Bologna Children's Book Fair, she signed her first children's book, which met with great success. By blending contrasting worlds, she creates a highly accessible, universal visual language. Her works, both spontaneous and sophisticated, tell stories where imagination intertwines with a deep reflection on the world around us.
